SMILE
March 29th, 2007When you tell Joy to smile for the camera…this is what you get…every time!!

March 29th, 2007We went outside to stomp some puddles in our new CROC boots from Bubbie and Capezio leotard from Nana.

Home via Hermosa
March 7th, 2007We are now home but we stopped in LA to have a longer visit with family and a tiny bit of time with some dear friends.
Joy got quite comfortable at her Nana’s house…with all kind of words and sentences coming out…”i wanno ouside”. She just seems to thrive in new environments…her process of exploring and getting comfortable is lovely. Here she is on our last day…clinging to her Nana while we packed up the car.
back up over
March 1st, 2007We flew into LAX this morning…a 12 hour flight which feels like a dream…dark for the most part…just the glow of personal seat back video monitors. Fortunately Joy slept for most of the trip. It was pretty hard for me to sleep though I did a bit…little cat naps…dozing and then jolting awake by the burn of a twisted limb.
We are staying with Nana through the weekend. Joy is off on an excursion and I am going over some of our trip photos.
The ferry ride from North Island to South Island was one of many high points.

This is one of the only photos of the three of us from the whole trip…one of those self portraits you see so many tourists doing.

It was a cool misty day but we had a lot of fun anyway and the scenery was as beautiful as expected.
I think our first stop was outside of Kaikura where the weather was still a little dingy…though the campsite sold fresh “crays”…just caught of the beach where we camped.

Our next big thrill was Akaroa where we did the wildlife excursion. It was a bumpy ride. I had to hang on tight but we saw lots of these Hector’s dolphins
And as I mentioned…plenty of seals and a couple of penguins. Here is a “yellow eyed penguin”
in a cave.
can you see him?
It is pointless to show the seal photos… it just looks like rocks on rocks.
And our adventure is over. It was one thrill after another for Joy. She has grown so much in so many ways over the last few weeks. Here she is …the big girl… on the plane.
